"Land: Zhang Huan and Li Binyuan" at MoMA PS1

To Raise the Water Level in a Fishpond: performance, Beijing, China, 1997

Ethan Cohen Gallery would like to congratulate Zhang Huan for being the subject of a two-artist exhibition at MoMA PS1, Land: Zhang Huan and Li Binyuan. The exhibition pairs videos and photographs of the early performances of Zhang Huan (b. 1965) with those of more recent performance works by Li Binyuan (b. 1985) to address the changing relationship between the body and land in contemporary China and to reflect on evolving ideas of ownership, belonging, and alienation.

Two photographs from Zhang Huan's performances in the 1990s,To Raise the Water Level in a Fishpond and To Add One Meter to an Anonymous Mountain, are currently on view as part of The Fuck Off Generation Part II at Ethan Cohen Gallery.

Land: Zhang Huan and Li Binyuan will be on view April 15 through September 3, 2018 at MoMA PS1. For more information on the exhibition, visit their website.

The Fuck Off Generation: Chinese Art in the Post-Mao Era is on view until June 30th. For more information, visit the exhibition page.
